About
Gloria Choi is a violist based in Los Angeles. Gloria picked up the viola at the age of 13 and started growing her passion as a violist under the guidance of Gina Coletti at the Colburn Community School. She finished her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern California and is currently pursuing a Master's degree, studying under Professor Karen Dreyfus.
Gloria actively performs with numerous groups such as Pacific Symphony, Pacific Opera Project, American Ballet Company, AYS, Downey Symphony, Jacaranda and USC Symphony where she is currently serving as a Principal violist. She has attended music festivals including NACO, Bowdoin, Montecito, Spoleto.
Gloria also enjoys collaborating outside of classical music and has played for RZA, Zedd, and Sha’leah. She often appears in works of local jazz and pop concerts.
She is a violist in Quartet Aido, actively performing in chamber series, concerts, and recording sessions. Her quartet has made appearances in CSUN chamber series, Centrum, Franco-Americaines de Musique de Chambre, California Club, and various Groupmuse concerts.
Gloria also has a passion for teaching and stays active in teaching private students in LA. She also serves as a music coach for the Walnut Valley Unified School District, where she instructs orchestra/chamber ensembles.
